Only Uber Pass offers a discount on rideshare services as well.

  • 15% off Uber Black, Uber Premier, and Uber SUV. (premium rides)
  • Up to 65 trips per month included
  • Protects against Uber surge pricing.

What is surge pricing?

Surge pricing is times when the amount of riders exceeds the number of drivers available. During these high-demand times, prices may increase to ensure that riders that are requesting a ride can get one.

Conditions like a special event close by, unfavorable weather, rush hour traffic, or a busy day and time (like Friday and Saturday nights for example). Whenever rates are higher due to surge pricing, users will either wait or pay the higher rate.  Uber will pay drivers more for traveling to these surge areas. Once the rate goes back down riders may schedule a ride at the regular rate.

How do I decide which one I should get?

Uber Eats Pass is good if you:

  • Only use the Uber Eats service
  • Order food delivery several times a month
  • Order grocery delivery from one of the eligible stores
  • The cost has prevented you from using either delivery service

Something to think about is that if you also use the rideshare service only, and not the delivery service, Uber Eats Pass won’t be of benefit to you. On the other hand, if you use both the rideshare and delivery services through Uber you may want to utilize Uber Pass.

Uber Pass is good if you:

  • Use the rideshare service on a regular basis
  • Use the food delivered through Uber Eats a few times a month
  • Have ever had to pay the surge pricing
  • Have ever avoided using either service due to the cost

Why should I sign up for an Uber subscription service?

If you use Uber for rides or for deliveries then one of the subscriptions will likely benefit you. Saving money is in all of our interests so we should take advantage of offers like this every chance that we get.

If you only use Uber Eats then the Uber Eats Pass is the obvious choice. But, if you use Uber for deliveries and also use the ridesharing service frequently or during surge times and also have food delivered or groceries delivered then Uber Pass is probably the way to go.

Conclusion

Both services are monthly subscriptions and both services automatically renew until you manually cancel the service. There is no additional charge to cancel either service. These services are only applicable in the country they were purchased. Neither service exists in California. if you are a frequent user of either service give one a try and see how much you save.
