What’s the deal with Uber and tolls?

Driving around Orlando, it’s pretty inevitable you’ll pass through a toll road, be it the 408 through town or the 528 headed to the airport. So how does it work with Uber?

Uber notices (via GPS) when you go through a toll road and will charge the passenger the toll rate and give the money to you – they do not keep their 20% of the tolls, it all goes to you.

Uber charges for tolls at the discounted rate you get for having a transponder in the car so you’ll want to get one of those – you can get them at Publix for $5, and the take 24 hours to start working after you call and activate them.
